Wednesday 21st October

Hi all,

Tonight we went over the SPICES and how we included all on our recent hike up Bray Head.
S – Social
P – Physical
I – Intellectual
C – Character
E – Emotional
S – Spiritual

Have a think about everything you do and which SPICES you could apply to them.

Isobel brought down some lovely Cookie Monster buns for her Special Interest Badge, she had written out all the ingredients and steps to make them.
Jude brought down his skateboard and his projects about his favourite skateboarders, the types of boards, the parts and the different tricks.
He performed a trick himself.

We then decorated biscuits for Halloween.

We sorted out our Sixes and promoted new Seconders and Sixers.
Congratulation to all.

Tuesday 13th October

Hi all,

We went to the Mermaid Theatre tonight to see the puppet show Bláth.
Bláth is set in a world that has decided colour and plants are no longer needed. A boy finds a magical book and sees flowers for the first time. He then discovers a packet of flower seeds in a junk shop and must learn how to bring the flower to life.
Bláth is a non-verbal show that will enchant audiences as they enter a world made entirely of paper. Based on the children’s book The Flower by John Light and Lisa Evans.

Many thanks to the staff of the Mermaid who looked after us so well.

Wednesday 30th Sept

Hi all,

We did a lot of badgework tonight, the chief scouters are striving  to get finished off, and we have got all the skills badges sorted so that they know what they’re doing.  Cian has joined us from Scout to help out.   Oisin and Peter are doing music for their skills badge, Peter played a bit for us last night, and they’re going to do a trio with Cormac next week.  Cormac played a bit as well, we think we might have a few other musical instruments coming down next Wed.

We’re planning on going to the Mermaid Theatre on Tuesday the 12th to a puppet show.

Wednesday 23rd Sept

Hi all,

Tonight we had a great meeting, We played a video ‘dumb ways to die’, and then the Cubs got into groups to come up with the most dumb way to die they could think of.  The prize for the most original went to ‘stick steak knives onto the feet of an elephant, and then make him made so that he tramples all over you’, we had to draw an illustration as well, went down a treat.  We then looked at the overall, most of them were around drowning in various ways, so we talked about water safety and safety in the home etc.

We finished with Grand Howl and went home.

Wednesday 10th June

Hi all,

Photos will be added shortly so please check back.

What a beautiful night to spend on the water, 21 Cubs out and more importantly 21 Cubs back in.
For those who hadn’t been on the water with us before, the cold water was a bit of a shock even though the sun was shining.
We also took the Canadian out and this went towards the CSA.

It was also a sad night for us in Wednesday Night Cubs as we said goodbye to Karen.
Karen has been a Leader with us for more than 30 years and she has decided to step down for some well earned rest.
She will be greatly missed by Cubs, Parents and fellow Leaders.
We wish her well and hope we’ll see her again in the future.

We also said farewell to Niamh who is moving with her family to England during the summer. We wish her well for her travels.

This was our last night until after the summer holidays
All the Leaders wish our Cubs and families a great summer, enjoy and take care of yourselves.

Please keep an eye on the site for our start back date, it will probably be the week after the schools start back.

Finally this is our 200th post on our site (“,)

Wednesday 3rd June

Hi all,

As always we kicked off the meeting with some footdrill. We upped the difficulty tonight, falling into two lines then numbering off in 2s and then falling in two deep at the same time. It was pretty tricky but we got there.

Kieran was good enough to go through the life jackets with us, and we all got a chance to try one on, Cormac did some work with the Chief Scouters.  Ao had a chat with them about promoting sixers and seconders when we come back in September, and what standard we expect from them, (full uniform, good attendance, prompt at handing in work, not having to be spoken to etc), then we played a mad game of bucketball with about a dozen balloons!

We did Grand Howl and headed home

Wednesday 27th May

Hi all,

Tonight we started off with foot drill, learning how to fall in two deep and three deep.
We then discussed the Cubs in a Pub camp and everyone agreed it was a success, the talent show was the highlight for most people.

We played the balloon bursting game, a balloon was tied around each cubs ankle and then all hell broke loose.

Oisin was victorious and got a great round of applause.
Light refreshments were had and after Grand Howl everyone headed home.

NB Only 2 weeks left 3rd and 10th of June
We hope to be on the water on the 10th so please keep checking the site.
