Dropping the Cubs off

Hi Parents,

Please make sure when you are dropping the Cubs off to the meetings that one of the Leaders, Karen, Fiona, Rory or Adrienne is actually in the den.

Often one of the other sections Leaders may be there or indeed other users of the den.

It is not enough to just drop and run, we want to make sure the Cub are safe at all times.

If you have any questions please ask.

Wednesday 23rd October

Hi all,

Foot drill last night showed us another couple of great improvements.
Each week it’s great to see our Cubs improving and it won’t be long until the whole pack are experts.

We were given our 12 Days of Christmas tickets.
Each ticket is €2 and a book has 20 tickets.
Please make every effort to sell as many tickets as possible, all the money raised comes straight back to the Group.

When selling the tickets PLEASE make sure you have someone with you at all times.
Ticket stubs (sold or not) must be returned with the money before 27th November to ensure they are entered in the draw.

After that we played Kim’s Game. The game develops a person’s capacity to observe and remember details. The name is derived from Rudyard Kipling’s 1901 novel Kim, in which the hero, Kim, plays the game during his training as a spy.

We congratulated an ex Cub of ours Sean Plunkett who won 2 medals in kick-boxing in Italy last week. His brother Kyle will send on our congrats.

We invested Juan as a member of our Cub Pack. Juan an exchange student from Spain has been coming down to our meeting for a couple of months now with Richard who he is staying with.
We wish Juan well and hope he wears his kneckerchief with pride.

We did Grand Howl and headed home.

Wednesday 16th October

Hi all,

As is now the custom we kicked off the meeting with foot-drill and a huge improvement was seen, especially from Leo.
Rory explained the importance of foot-drill, the history, listening to direction, what can be achieved with it and most importantly the fact that he loves it.
To see what can be achieved with plenty of practice please check out the following links to the United States Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon

Please make sure that you have the following 5 items complete, if not you do not get to cook or earn your badge.
Next Wednesday is the last chance to get the work in so DON’T FORGET

  1. List of ingredients
  2. Cost of ingredients
  3. List of utensils
  4. Menu
  5. Table plan

Please remember the Cub Bank is open for those wishing to save a couple of Euros each week for the trip to Belfast in the New Year.

Wednesday 9th October

Hi all,

As usual we started with some footdrill. Again improvements and this week we were lucky enough to have Cormac and Stevie assist and demonstrate how it’s done correctly.

We collected our subs and money for Belfast (camp bank is open) and then we spilt into our sixes for the Cook Off.

This week we were supposed to have a menu and table plan design but most of us forgot!!!

Before we do any cooking or get any badges we must have the following 5 items complete

  1. List of ingredients
  2. Cost of ingredients
  3. List of utensils
  4. Menu
  5. Table plan

Without al of these complete your six won’t be cooking so please don’t be the one to hold up your group.

We finished off with a game of ladders and despite some near fatalities we all went home happy.

Wednesday 2nd October

Hi all,

As usual we kicked off with some foot drill. Nice to see the Beavers learning what to do.
We then had inspection, remember to keep those kneckers neatly ironed.
We did a quiz, amazing how many 5 letter words starting with p and ending with e we were able to find.

We reviewed out ingredients, utensils and costs for the Great Cub Scout Cook Off. Make sure that if you didn’t bring it down this week to have it next week.

We also need to have a menu and a table plan done for next week. Make them as fancy and colourful as you like.

We finished as always with Grand Howl
