Wednesday 25th September

Hi all,

We started the night off with some foot drill and then collect the subs and insurance fees.
We also collected money for our Camp Bank, this is for the planned trip to the Titanic Exhibition and Belfast Giants game in January (Date to be confirmed)

As we have a number of new members we played the introduction game. We each had to tell everyone our name and one thing we like.

We announced our “The Great Cub Scout Cook-off” competition.
Full details can be found here.
For next week though we each need to have

  • Full list of ingredients
  • Utensils needed
  • Cost

We have a backwoods exercise this Saturday 28th September in Knocksink Woods in Enniskerry. Meeting at the woods at 1pm and collection from the woods at 5pm.
Please ensure you have wet gear, water proof boots and a small packed lunch.

If you have any questions please contact one of the Leaders.

We finished with Grand Howl and went on our merry way.

Wednesday 11th September

Hi all,

We kicked off the meeting this week with some foot drill.

We concentrated of Backwoods this week. We discussed what clothes to wear when out in nature and the importance of having the correct clothes for all types of weather and environment. We talked about preparing food when out and the importance of hygiene.

Heather took half the pack and explained how to make a shelter while Rory took the rest and explained how to use a mallet, bush saw, knife and an axe.
Safety was the priority for each and using them only for what they are designed for.
NB Cubs are not allowed use bush saws, knives and axes. Only when they move to Scouts and are trained and prove to be competent are they ok to us them.

We finished the night with a game of arches.

Wednesday 4th September

Hi all,

So once again we kicked off the new season of Cubs.
After everyone settled in we had a quick check on how everyone got on over the summer holidays and the general consensus was everyone had a great time.

We played bucket ball and we then found out who the new Senior Sixers, Sixers and Seconders are.
Congratulations to all promoted. But remember it takes hard work to keep those badges. And for anyone who wasn’t promoted keep working away, your time may come.

We also discussed some of the upcoming events.

  • Sleep over in Dun Laoghaire Den
  • Belfast Giants and Titanic
  • Backwoods cooking in Powerscourt
  • The Great Cub Scout Cookoff

Please make sure to check the site regularly for updates and dates.
