Wednesday 24th October

Hi all,

Tonight we continued with our Backwoods Stage 1 badge.
We went through what we need to have in a survival kit (lunchbox size)
Remember that items like plasters, and pins should be in your first aid kit.

We learned about safety around fires, keep well back, don’t run near the fire, don’t throw anything into the fire. Make sure it’s put out properly and even when out for what seems like ages it can still be extremely hot.

We played Land, Sea and Air and finished the night with a puzzle sheet.

Please note there is no meeting next week due to Halloween.

Wednesday 17th October

Hi all,

Unfortunately due to circumstances out of our control we had to postpone the presentation from Astronomy Ireland.

As always we collected our money for subs, insurance and the Belfast Trip.
We had an inspection, we really need to get woggles and iron our kneckerchiefs.

We went through what we need to put in our Survival Kits.
Remember these should be lunch box size, so don’t include clothes, food, (apart from and energy bar) or anything that goes into your First Aid Kit.

For next week we have to write out at least 10 things to go in the kit that will be of use to us.

We played a few games of bucket ball did Grand Howl and went home.

Astronomy Presentation

Please note that as the Astronomy Presentation will take place next Wednesday (17th) the meeting will start at the slightly earlier time on 6.50pm.

Wednesday 10th October

Hi all,

Tonight we welcomed 8 new Cubs, up from Beavers to our pack.

We also said farewell to Eleanor and Oleg who are both moving up to Scouts. We wish them well on their journey and thank them for the great example they set for the younger Cubs.

We played Ship Shore with Heather calling out the instructions. And as luck and a lot of skill and practice would have it, Eleanor won.

After that we were presented with out Air Activities Stage 1 badges (which will be sewn on our jumpers by next week)

After that we started off on Backwoods Stage 1. Backwoods basically means living off the land, building shelters, cooking without utensils and surviving.

For next week we have to write a list of what we think should go in a survival kit (lunchbox size)

Eleanor led us in Grand Howl and we went home.

Wednesday 3rd October

Hi all,

This week we collected our subs, savings for the Belfast Giants trip and our insurance.

We played Land, Sea and Air with Simon Says thrown in.
We did some footdrill and learned this week how to turn right, turn left and turn about.

We went over the last steps for our Air Activities stage 1.
Please make sure you have a drawing of a flying object and a picture of an airport down next week if you haven’t already. Without them you can’t earn the badge.

We then had some food fun, we were split into 3 teams.
Round 1
We had to run up and try and eat as many dry cream crackers in 20 seconds as we could before handing over to the team member.
Round 2
We then had to eat as many baked beans one at a time using a cocktail stick.
Round 3
For the final round we had to try and eat doughnuts with out licking our fingers or our lips.

And so with full stomachs we did Grand Howl and went home
